National Training Strategy Grant (NTSG)

Supporting the Development of the Warwickshire Social Care Workforce

Since the formation of the Partnership Warwickshire County Council has allocated a proportion of National Training Strategy Grant (NTSG) funding paid by the Department of Health to local authorities to develop the social care workforce, to support the private and voluntary care sectors in Warwickshire. The purpose of the NTSG is to contribute to the costs to care providers of providing/purchasing training required to meet the qualification targets defined in the National Minimum Standards that Commission for Social Care Inspection (CSCI) apply to regulate the care services. This part of the grant is administered by Warwickshire Quality Partnership (WQP), which is part of the Workforce Development Service (WDS).   From time to time, WQP have collected training needs analysis data from registered providers who are members of WQP.  This data is used to commission underpinning knowledge courses which are offered to these members.

INFORMATION ABOUT THE GRANT:

NATIONAL TRAINING STRATEGY GRANT
SUPPORTING THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE WARWICKSHIRE SOCIAL CARE WORKFORCE

Background
The objective of the National Training Strategy is to increase the proportion of staff who have appropriate qualifications for the work they undertake at vocational, qualifying and post qualifying levels. In particular, the grant is to support social care employers, both Adult and Child Care providers, in meeting the qualification targets defined in the national minimum standards that the CSCI apply to regulate care services.

How the grant is used
WQP commission underpinning knowledge courses for adult services which have been identified as needed by members of WQP, via a training needs analysis.
