The LDQ and WQP Team
Warwickshire Quality Partnership (WQP) was set up as a joint initiative between the independent sector and Warwickshire County Council (WCC) Social Services in November 2002. It utilised specific training grants to support and improve the quality of training in the independent sector of registered service provision in Warwickshire.
In March 2003 Elaine Ives was appointed as Manager of WQP and has been instrumental in starting Coventry and Warwickshire Partnership for Care.

Learning Disability Qualifications (LDQ)
In August 2003 Liz Jones was appointed to work specifically with the providers of learning disability services to push out the new LDAF qualification created by Valuing People and to run a qualifications centre through British Institute of Learning Disabilities (BILD) to certificate learners.
Liz was supported by WQP to do this, with Lisa Heames who is the financial manager of the new LDQ Centre . |

The Centre has grown quite quickly and now has many partners. The Awarding Organisation for this Centre is National Open College Network (NOCN).
Because of this growth Sara Turrell was appointed in February 07 as Qualifications Officer to be responsible for support of the Assessors

Learning Disability Qualifications (LDQ) Programme

Background
Following the transfer of the Learning Disability Awards Framework (LDAF) from the Department of Health to Skills for Care in April 07, we have been working in partnership with the Valuing People Support Team (VPST), The Children’s Workforce Development Council (CWDC), Skills for Health and the ‘In Control’ Project to develop a new approach to learning and qualifications for people supporting people with a learning disability.
The work of this partnership is coordinated through the Learning Disability Workforce Development Commissioning Group and reports directly to the National Learning Disability Workforce Development Group
Learning Disability Induction Award
The new Learning Disability Induction Award that covers the Common Induction Standards in the context of supporting people with a learning disability, is now available through three awarding bodies: City and Guilds, Edexcel and the National Open College Network (NOCN). Education Development International PLC is currently awaiting approval from the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority (QCA) to also offer the award.
Completion of the Induction Award will enable workers to demonstrate that they have met the requirements of the Common Induction Standards in a learning disability context. Achievement of the award will also lead to progression within the health and social care sector and demonstrate achievement and evidence towards NVQs at the appropriate level.
